Mariam Abdelaziz

Mariam is a fourth-year Human Geography and Political Science student, with interests in shedding light on overlooked narratives and subjectivities from the Middle East, global intersectional movements for social justice, and the spatial dimensions of oppression. Outside of her studies, she is an activist and organizer. She enjoys reading, frequenting cafes, and is an avid hot chocolate fan.
Alina Debyser

Alina is a second-year Human Geography major with interests in climate justice, migration, and urban design. She takes joy in beautiful data visualizations, book cover designs, key lime pie, and snowboarding. Despite living in Vancouver for over a year and a half now, she still experiences a renewed state of awe every morning when seeing the mountains.
Jacob Ereshefsky

Jacob is a third-year Human Geography major and Urban Studies minor, with an interest in migration and settlement, green city planning, and social geographies. Having recently moved from Calgary to Vancouver, Jacob enjoys exploring the coastal mountains and new hidden gems within the city.
Sayano Izu

Sayano graduated from a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on urban studies and human geography in 2022. Her interests include decolonization, just city planning, migrant rights, climate action, public health, information justice, and many more. Sayano now works for a non-profit organization to help youth get involved more in local politics and climate action.
Liam Jagoe
Author
Liam will hopefully graduate in May with an Honours in Human Geography degree, provided they did their math right. Their academic interests include environmental justice, informal housing, agriculture, and shoehorning anarchism in wherever they can. This summer, they are looking forward to participating in the UBC Practicum in Sustainable Agriculture. In their extracurricular time they play drums in the band Nonarchy and compost unsuccessfully.
Santosh Muralidaran

Santosh is a fourth-year student studying Political Science and Economics through the dual degree program between Sciences Po and UBC. He is interested in postcolonial geographies, climate justice, theories of urban and transportation planning, and development economics. In his free time, he likes to go running, take pictures of sunsets, or track random flights on Flightradar24

Ryan is a first-year student in the Faculty of Science, with an interest in urban ecology, conservation and geographic information systems. In his free time, Ryan enjoys hiking, kayaking, running, and exploring the many natural wonders of the city.
Renée Rochefort

Renée is a third-year student studying French and Human Geography. She is interested in the francophone world, diaspora issues, and cities. Outside of her coursework, Renée enjoys playing football, watching sunsets, and reading the news.
Benedikt Rohr
Author
Benedikt is a Psychology and Geography student with a particular interest in biodiversity conservation efforts, nuclear energy and the relationship between green spaces and human health. He is currently working as a Ski patroller on Cypress Mountain & in his free time he enjoys surfing, playing hockey and hiking with his dogs.
